UFC FN62 Maia vs. LaFlare: Begging for Beagles in Brazil

Welcome fight Enthusiasts to FN 62 from Rio. Contrary to UFC 185 where we worked diligently to whittle numerous live Labradors to a select few, today we struggle to diagnose even a couple of dogs worthy of our dollars. The main event for today’s foray of fighters would be placed in the 5th position of last week’s card by way of compelling combatants. That said our goal is to pull profit from these pugilist so with today’s theme being ‘SELECTIVITY’ let’s begin.

UFC 2015: 21-19 + $1,047.00

(All GambLou.com suggested wagers are understood to be a standard and hypothetical $100 per position unless otherwise stated. Public accounting allows us to display our gaming capability while providing our readers with 100% transparency).

-Let’s Fight-

Note: The last fight card in Brazil realized rabid runts running rampant in the streets of Porto Alegre, Brazil but more importantly we witnessed the usual dominance of the home County Brazilians stymied as most of the home town hombre’s got handled. Was this a rare occurrence or is the new testing program in the UFC exposing something many have speculated for some time? Rhetorical question certainly but one we must address. We believe that the Brazilian home Countrymen on the slate today are well aware of what happened the last time the UFC visited Brazil and that local pride will be even more enhanced and the fans even more enthusiastic than usual…..which should be something to witness!

Martin -140 vs. Santos +120

Interesting to observe that there has been a reversal of the Favorite in this fight. Santos opened -180 and now we see that he is an underdog in this matchup. Martin takes this fight on relative short notice and while he has fought worthy competition we doubt his propensity for power as it is a certainty that Martin will attempt to keep this fight on the feet. Further Marin’s gas tank has been suspect in his previous bouts. Santos is the much older hombre but he is quite a capable grappler who will attempt to take this one to the floor and maul the American. We believe this may be the most competitive fight on the slate and being in Brazil our angle is that if this bout is close the decision may well go to the local.

Santos +120(half)

(we often advise waiting on underdogs as the price can grow as the opening bell approaches but in this case we will take our $1.20 advantage now and if this line grows we can always react later….Value).

Silva -530 vs. Koscheck +420

The UFC seems compelled on lining Erick Silva up to shine and while this kid absolutely looks the part he has only underachieved. Silva is younger, taller and sports an inch reach advantage over Koscheck but one would have to completely hate money to lay -530 in this spot. Josh Koscheck enters this fight only three weeks after getting the slobber squeezed out of him by a journeyman fighter in Jake Ellenberger…but we smell something in this fight. Silva will come out like a tornado trying to KO the older professional with the aspiration of creating buzz, hype and a reason for the UFC to continue to gussy him up for its continued romance into its most important region of the fighting world…Brazil.

Koscheck owns one advantage over the younger Brazilian and that is fighting guile. Kos understands that the recipe for his retirement is a standing battle with the bull however we don’t see him accommodating the young man at least in the first round. Kos understands that his only chance to shock the fighting world is to smother the striker and use his wresting in order to get this fight into the later rounds so he can even the fighting balance by allowing the younger aggressive man to gas out. While we question Kos’s ability to win this affair we do feel our angle for this fight offers us the potential for gaming grip…

Fight starts round 2 -125 (half)

LaFlare -135 vs. Maia +115

Here’s a fight we were able to discuss in depth with our friend and fighting maven Gabriel Morency on the Fight Network earlier this week when Maia was +135. LaFlare has asked for this fight and sometimes in this game our belief is that one should be careful what one asks for. LaFlare is the younger wrestling based fighter who enters this one undefeated. Ryan is eager to prove his mettle but he is in Brazil, he’s up against a local as well since entering the UFC LaFlare has yet to finish a fight. Maia is a grizzled veteran grappler who is more capable on his feet than many will give him credit for. Both fighters have come off layoffs and while we do see a competitive fight here we feel that desperation and the propensity for this fight to be an ugly grinding affair allow us to lean to the Brazilian.

Maia +115 (or better; half)

We’re going very easy today Enthusiasts for there is a full nine months reamaning in 2015 which is plenty of time for us to bank on better brawlers than we have featured on this card.
